BROWNS HOME HARDWARE WINS ‘RETAILER OF THE YEAR’ AWARDNick Green of Brown’s Home Hardware (Pershore) is celebrating having been announced as winner of Home Hardware Retailer of the Year at their Convention on Saturday 18th November 2017. In choosing a winner, Home Hardware took into account the professional approach to retailing including promotions, store layout, staff training, customer care and overall commitment. “I’m delighted that Brown’s Home Hardware has won this award” said David Adams, Chairman of Home Hardware. “The business was founded in 1913 and is now owned by Nick Green who acquired the business back in 2007. Nick originally joined the business as a Saturday boy back in 1974 and then became Manager and Partner in 1986”. In 2016 Nick developed the large area at the back of the store into a secret garden centre which has proved very successful for both them and their customers”. Nick Green said “It’s like having a restaurant and gaining a Michelin star and winning the ‘Great British Bake off’ or ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ - all in one! From planning to fruition has been a mammoth journey. Any project in this day and age is a calculated risk; a step out of your comfort zone. Our current ambitions are to maintain freshness, keep that ‘wow factor’ and . Evolving is not sitting back it is keeping it fresh and is key to success. “We won’t be sitting back on our laurels – there is still much work to be achieved. As an active member of the Home Hardware Promotions Committee I am personally dedicated to supporting the product activity for the Home hardware group. It is the small things that help to cement the foundations of any business. I joined HH in 2005. “It soon became apparent that becoming a corporate member of HH gave us a stronger high street identity. Corporate Membership has meant changing our business name from WL Brown to Browns Home Hardware this has given us a stronger identity and easily links tradition and profession – this was an easy transition. The HH team are on hand to help with day to day running of the store and are a fantastic resource. It is safe to say that keeping our independent identity allied with a corporate identity has been a winning recipe”.
